Healthy, conscious communication
-
Emotional intelligence
-
Honesty
-
Appreciation
-
Self sourcing approval
-
Clear agreements
-
Giving and receiving love
True, authentic and loving connection is at the core of the human experience.
Researchers have found that loneliness and weak social connections are associated with a reduction in lifespan similar to that caused by smoking 15 cigarettes per day and even greater than that associated with obesity. (1)
Unfortunately, learning how to relate is not intentionally taught in school, and most of us instead pick up relating skills from our family of origin or primary influences around us growing up.
The good news is, no matter what kinds of ways you learned to relate, you can re-learn as an adult and consciously choose this time around to learn healthy relating skills conducive to developing true, authentic connections.
Clear, blame-free communication, self-esteem, emotional intelligence, and creating clear agreements are at the core of healthy relating.
